TPN- The Pallet Network

TPN- The Pallet Network

Here at YDL, we are part of the TPN pallet network. We proudly run over 100 depots throughout the UK. We listen to our customers requirements which is the reason for our success. We offer flexibility to deliver services that are like no other company!

If you’re looking for a reliable pallet courier, a trusted TPN member is the best place to start. Listed below is more information about TPN, how they work and the benefits of using a courier in the network. We are an independent courier for all types of freight such as small parcels, like mail, packets and boxed freight all the way to large pallets that hold heavy materials.

Are you wondering who TPN are?

Here’s some information and history behind TPN.

TPN was founded in 2000, and in 2019 they were awarded pallet network of the year, which they still hold today. At present, TPN has 130 partner locations and has delivered 5m pallets in 2021.

They offer a cost-effective palletised freight delivery. The pallet network offers excellent and convenient service levels and efficient ways for regional distribution specialists to offer their customers a national service. TPN is also the most effective way to move pallets anywhere in the UK. They have the best postcode coverage and have track&trace which shows customers proof of delivery.

How does the TPN work?

TPN’s partner companies like us (YDL) collect and deliver freight within our allocated postcode areas. It’s fast, super-efficient and means that each individual partner performs a minimum amount of trunking.

Why choose pallet deliveries with TPN?

The service offers peace of mind because you can track & trace your pallets from your mobile phone. Wherever you are, rest assured you’ll never miss a parcel. This is especially helpful in the case of expensive or fragile deliveries! A forklift truck allows the pallets to be moved easily. By choosing TPN as your pallet courier, you are saving a significant amount on costs. Not forgetting you are able to ship your products in bulk. Instead of sending multiple stockpiles through normal delivery services, choose to use TPN.

Benefits of TPN and what they offer.

There are many benefits to TPN and how they add value to YDL. Below are some benefits.

  • International delivery- wherever you are, we’ve got you covered.
  • Saturday service
  • Next working day service
  • 2/3 day service for economy
  • Tail-lift services

The importance of using pallets.

Pallets are used for a lot of different things for businesses. They can offer storage and a base for assembling and transporting materials and products. Pallets provide vital protection to the product when they’re being transported to the final destination, ensuring they arrive intact.

We hope this guide has helped you understand and what the benefits of choosing them will bring. Are you interested in the services TPN can provide you? Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

YDL’s Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

At YDL, we support several charities. One of which is the Martin House Hospice for children and young people, for which we have their logo proudly displayed on one of our wagons.

On the 12th of March, some of the team at YDL took part in the Yorkshire Three peaks challenge to support the Martin House accumulator challenge. The walk was set out in the early hours of Saturday morning, the challenge for the team was to cross the summit of the 3 peaks and complete a 24-mile walk in under 12 hours. We successfully completed it in under 12hours!

What does the Martin House Children’s Hospice do?

Martin House support and cares for families that have children with life-limiting conditions in their local community. All of the money raised will go towards more families and children who go to Martin House. Running places like this usually costs around £28,000 per day. Every donation made will help towards ensuring Martin House can keep providing essential care for the families that go to them for the best possible support.

The story behind our team’s name.

Kristian, a member of our team ‘Yankee Darcy Lima’. Has had support from Martin House since 2019 after the loss of his 6-year-old daughter Darcy. This is why ‘Darcy’ is part of the team name. Martin House has helped Kristian and his family by guiding them on the right path and providing support whenever is necessary. The walk was very special to Kristian as he could do it in the memory of Darcy.

 How much we raised

Our goal was to raise £3,000. We have currently raised an amazing £4,400 with 101 supporters. 48% over our initial goal!  https://bit.ly/3NORi4Q

What our team had to say

Kristian:

Why did you want to participate?

“It is a challenge I have been keen on doing since I moved to North Yorkshire 4 years ago, but the fact it was to be done under the premise of raising funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice made it even more appealing. I have first-hand experience of the work they do at the Hospice when our daughter, Darcy, passed away in January 2019 so it made it more special to be able to do this in her memory.”

How did you find the experience?

“Exciting! But during the climbs, I had a slight issue with my knee, and it made it difficult. I felt like I was hitting a wall halfway through, but the team dragged me through. It was a real buzz to say we completed it!”

How do you feel after completing the challenge?

“It’s amazing! A real sense of accomplishment and proud feeling to say I did it… with no training!”

Lauren:

Why did you want to participate?

“This was for an excellent cause which is very close to our hearts at YDL.”

How did you find the experience?

“The experience was possibly the toughest I’ve had to date. I am a very competitive person so the 12-hour challenge provided the motivation I needed to keep going, I knew if I didn’t complete within the 12 hours that I would feel like I failed the challenge.”

How do you feel after completing the challenge?

“I could barely walk when I got home, was one toenail down, and had blisters on every toe and on the soles of my feet, but, I felt extremely proud of the whole team and the efforts that every single one of us made. From exceeding the donation target to everyone completing the walk, it truly was a fantastic achievement for a very worthy cause.”

Matt:

Why did you want to participate?

“For Team Building and a great charitable cause”

How did you find the experience?

“Really enjoyed it, great fun with the whole team.”

How do you feel after completing the challenge?

“Looking forward to the next opportunity to do more charitable work.”

Northern Ireland Shipping Guide

Northern Ireland Shipping Guide

Brexit and COVID-19 have dramatically impacted trade between the Mainland UK and Northern Ireland. Compared to the free trade that once occurred, businesses must dutifully follow numerous rules and regulations. If you’re looking to ship goods to Northern Ireland, YDL is here to help. As experts in business logistics, we’re here to help you deliver goods to Northern Ireland efficiently and smoothly. Learn more about the new protocols in our Norther Ireland Shipping Guide here.

How to Ship to Northern Ireland

Before Brexit, trade between Northern Ireland and the UK was simple as they were considered wholly one entity. Consequently, rules that applied to the UK also applied to Northern Ireland. However, following Brexit, the UK government and the EU created new regulations specific to Northern Ireland trade. The government officially considers these temporary, but the latest update to Norther Ireland trade guidance was in July of 2021.

Shipping to Consumers in Northern Ireland

Suppose you have customers on a consumer level in Northern Ireland. In that case, there are no new requirements for the customer receiving goods. Likewise, if you are shipping items to a business, and the total value of the goods is under £135, the company in Northern Ireland also doesn’t need to accommodate any new requirements.

Shipping Goods under £135 in Northern Ireland

A few extra steps are required to ship goods under £135 to a business in Northern Ireland. Any excise goods that are already UK duty paid do not need to be declared to customers. However, there is still a liability to excise duty in Northern Ireland. This is offset by any paid in the UK, however. Check out the UK Government page for more information.

Shipping Goods Over £135 in Northern Ireland

Businesses based in Northern Ireland receiving goods from a company in Great Britain must fill out a declaration form. Certain items are restricted and cannot be shipped to Northern Ireland without further steps. These include:

  • Agrifoods, live animals and plant products
  • Chemicals subject to REACH controls
  • Drug Precursor Chemicals
  • Wine and Spirits
  • Contact us today for further advice

Moving Goods from Northern Ireland to the UK

There are essentially no new requirements beyond minor EU laws for the vast majority of goods moving to the UK From Northern Ireland. However, an import declaration will be required in Great Britain and an export declaration in Northern Ireland.

For more guidance on new Northern Ireland Shipping requirements, contact YDL today. Our expert team will help you make the best of our services as a leading UK logistics provider. YDL’s Christmas Highlights

The YDL team is passionate about logistics and our local area. As a part of the APC network, we’ve found opportunities throughout 2021 to display our passion through action. This year, we’ve celebrated our award-winning service alongside APC. We’ve also helped fellow APC partner NEP meet the challenging demand this year has brought.

We looked after our own this year too. Our partnership with Westfield Health has allowed us to offer our staff private healthcare and dental plans as we recruit more and more HGV drivers. In addition, our new vehicles now feature the logo of the leading local charity “York Against Cancer”, helping to spread awareness from our depots and beyond.

How we Stack up to Santa

When Jolly Saint Nick rolls down the chimney late on Christmas Eve, he has learnt to master the efficiency of his supply chain. Over just one night, according to The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Santa has to travel at over 650 miles per second to deliver around 321,300 tons of cargo!

Whilst we aren’t travelling that fast, with over 115 national depots alongside overnight tracked delivery, we can confidently supply your business at a speed Santa wouldn’t sneeze at!

Smooth, fast logistics are a vital aspect of modern business. Customers demand efficiency and convenience in an ever more interconnected world. YDL Helping Hand

YDL Lends a Helping Hand

This past year hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for logistics. COVID-19 and issues in the Suez have affected many depots across the country. But, we’ve come out the other side stronger here at YDL with little impact on the day-to-day logistics needs of our customers. As we continue to grow, we know how important it is to support local businesses – especially in our industry.

Learn more about what YDL is doing to help here.

Nationwide Express Parcels

YDL works closely with multiple depots and logistic companies as a part of The Pallet Network. This collaborative network of British logistic providers allows the UK logistics industry as a whole to benefit from each other’s strength and provide fast, competitive logistics on a local level.

One member of TPN, Nationwide Express Parcels (NEP), was hit by a sudden spike in work in their region of Glossop. Such a rapid increase was unexpected, even as we come out of this pandemic.

YDL MD Paul McLaren quickly realised NEP would not have the resources to deal with their growing backlog single-handedly. Therefore, it was time to get a team together. YDL enlisted the help of fellow TPN members LPC and McDowell Haulage and Distribution to form a compliment of 11 vehicles and drivers.

On an early Saturday morning, the fleet assembled at NEP depot to begin assistance. It quickly became apparent that the team offered to NEP incredible efficiency, meaning only three drivers would be needed that Saturday. As the rest stood down, it was clear YDL had lived up to the TPN Partner Powered Alliance Mantra.

One Team, TPN!

York Against Cancer

New Truck Day is often widely celebrated at YDL. A shiny new symbol of our continued support for UK logistics is worth cheering about after all. This time, however, it felt even sweeter. YDL prides itself on supporting the local community in York. We’re always looking to give back wherever and however we can.

Next time you see one of our trucks heading out from the depot or into your business,  keep your eyes peeled for a new logo on the cab. Our new truck proudly displays the logo of local charity ‘York Against Cancer.’ We hope to spread awareness of the team’s great work across York and the UK at large. According to studies, during the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic, almost 45% of those with cancer symptoms were unable to see a GP. So let’s set that right however we can.

Our excellent connections through the TPN network allow us to offer unique logistics opportunities to UK businesses – including overnight and same-day delivery. Via this or through awareness, YDL is here to help. Learn more about our services and stay updated on our social channels to make sure you never miss a thing.

YDL Warehousing Explained

Getting products to customers can certainly be a challenge, hence why many local businesses trust YDL for their logistics needs. However, as your business grows, an equally great challenge is simply finding somewhere to store your products. When sales begin to grow, your garage or the basement of your office just doesn’t cut it. Luckily for you, YDL not only offers a wide range of delivery options for your products – but a home for them before they reach your customers. Learn all about YDL warehousing, its benefits and what it could do for your business below.

What is warehousing?

Warehousing is the industry term for the storage of inventory, such as outbound products and raw materials. The warehouse could be a rented facility or a third-party solution like ours. It is likely to be one of the most critical components of your supply chain, serving as a hub for all inbound and outbound materials before shipment.

Warehousing isn’t just about storage; however, effective storage management is also key to creating an efficient supply chain. Organisation of stock, seamless and practical relocation, ease of delivery and shipment, all of these factors and more are instrumental to ensuring products reach the hands of your customers. For smaller businesses on the up and up, like many eCommerce businesses after this pandemic, this can be an incredibly complex system to create and manage effectively.

Why use YDL Warehousing?

By entrusting YDL for your warehousing solution alongside your logistics, you can create an enclosed third-party stem for all your inventory. YDL can handle incoming raw materials, outbound products and create a shipping solution that works best for you and your customers.

With over 200,000 sq ft of storage available (that’s around 2.5x bigger than Buckingham Palace, for comparison), YDL can fully accommodate products of any shape and size. The YDL team are experts in handling and inventory management, ensuring an incredibly efficient solution whilst meeting your needs.

Shipment from our warehouse is available under a variety of options to suit your exact needs. From tracked next working day delivery with the APC Overnight delivery network to the shipment of dangerous materials with the Hazchem network, we’ve got you covered. YDL takes logistics out of your hands, allowing you to focus on what you do best: selling your products to those who want them.

We hope this guide has shown you the potential YDL warehousing holds for your business. Warehousing and inventory management is a challenging task. For all your logistics needs, trust the local experts. We provide a close relationship built on open communication to meet your logistics needs.
